Thirty years ago it was classified as a world heritage of humanity, the Palace of Versailles is one of the most beautiful achievements of French art in the seventeenth century. Louis XIV transformed and expanded his father's, Louis XIII, hunting lodge to settle in with his court and his government in 1682. Since that moment, one king has succeeded another and each in turn embellished the castle until the French Revolution.
